Hi Navya, the realty in Rajarhat have come into prime focus recently. With main city of Kolkata having no space, this region has grown more as an extended new town venture. There are malls, educational institutes [DPS, Stephens, University of Engineering & Management and Xaviers College], planned residential and commercial establishments like TCS & Infosys and Wipro campuses. But, the region has troubles of portable water. The water had high iron content, which heavily stained the bathroom tiles and white clothing, but HIDCO has been trying to resolve the same by building an underground pipeline and filtration bed here. Also, safety on roads of this area is of concern. The roads become empty and unsafe after sundown and moving out of the gated community after dark is risky, a case of a couple being beaten up last year .To combat the feeling of insecurity, developers were instructed by the Bidhannagar police to furnish details of security arrangements before getting a clearance. However, urban development experts say that its too early to judge the success of Rajarhat and time should be given to let realty reach its maximum potential.
Hi Navya, Rajarhat enjoys sound public transport facilities. The major railway stations of Kolkata- Howrah Station and Sealdah Station are only 17 km and 15 km away from this area, respectively. Also, the Dumdum Metro Station [9 km] and Belgachia Metro Station [10 km] are easily approachable, while the Dumdum airport is merely 12 minutes away from Rajarhat.
