i want to transfer my property to my son as gift. What costs will be there and what savings can be done?

Hi Sukhdev! You can give a property to your son through a gift deed. This deed is registered just like a regular sales deed, stamp duty and registration has to be paid also just like a normal property registration. A property transfered in the form of a gift to close relative does not attract any income tax but when this property is sold, then the owner has to pay income tax.
