The recently launched Namo Bharat Rapid Rail, which is renamed from the 'Vande Metro' service, is aimed to enhance intercity travel in different routes of the country. Presently running between Bhuj and Ahmedabad, its regular service for commuters in Gujarat started on September 17, 2024. Namo Bharat Rapid Rail: Key details

Unlike traditional metro train services, the Namo Bharat Rapid Rail will link major cities with surrounding towns. This cost-effective rail comprises several modern features to enhance the overall travelling experience of commuters.

  • The Namo Bharat Rapid Rail is equipped with 12 air-conditioned coaches, featuring advanced amenities. These includes modular interiors, panoramic windows, automatic sliding doors, and modern toilets with vacuum evacuation systems
  • The train has safety features such as ‘Kavach’, which is an automatic train protection system for collision avoidance and fire detection. It is also equipped with an aerosol-based fire suppression system to douse fire
  • The train will run at a maximum speed of 110 kmph
  • The ticket price from Bhuj to Ahmedabad will be Rs 455, offering a cost-effective option with comfort
  • The seating capacity of Namo Bharat Rapid Rail is 1,150 passengers
