Mumbai Metro Line 11: Latest updates (February 2024)
Mumbai's Wadala-CSMT Metro 11 route received a revision on its initially proposed route. Originally, it was a direct link from Wadala to CSMT, but now the plan has taken a slight detour. The new route will head westward to create a link from Mumbai Port Trust, Byculla, Nagpada and Crawford Market before reaching CSMT. As per the reports by MMRCL, the line is expected to extend further to Horniman Circle and end at Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Chowk near Regal Cinema.
Mumbai Metro Line 11: Impact on real estate
The proposed project of Mumbai Metro Line 11 is anticipated to catalyse real estate development along its corridor. With its revised route connecting areas like Bhendi Bazaar and Nagpada, authorities expect a surge in the area's real estate activity. The improved connectivity provided by the metro line is further expected to attract investors and developers, leading to cluster development in nearby locales. Slums along the metro line will also come under a rehabilitation program and transform the areas into urban centres.
To wrap up, Line 11 of Mumbai's Metro is expected to connect Wadala and CSMT with minor changes to its previously proposed route. It is part of Mumbai's Green Line Metro with four major lines, including 4, 4A, 10 and 11. Once the construction is completed, the areas in proximity will receive better connectivity and experience a spike in the real estate market. MMRDA expects this line to be functional by 2030 and serve as a rapid transit corridor of modern infrastructure for the residents of Mumbai.
