National Highway (NH) 230, also known as Kisan Path or the Lucknow Outer Ring Road, is an under-construction project spanning 104 km. This ring road will connect 104 villages to the city at the cost of Rs 5,500 crore. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has divided the work on the Outer Ring Road into two phases under different packages. The road will cover 43 villages in Lucknow, as well as Dewa and Nawabganj Tehsils in Barabanki. Approximately 1,500 acres of land has been acquired from both Barabanki and Lucknow districts for this project.
Lucknow Ring Road Current Status
Phase 1
The first phase includes the development from BKT (Bakshi Ka Talab) to Asti Road, Sultanpur Road, Behta Road, Sitapur Road, Kursi Road, Faizabad Road, Indira Canal, Mohanlalganj and Kanpur Road via Bani.
Package I
The package covers a distance of 31.75 km from Sultanpur Road to Behta Road. The work on the stretch began on February 7, 2020, and 22 percent of the work has been completed.
Package II
A 32.89 km stretch of road has been taken from Behta Road to Sitapur Road as part of Package II. The work under this package started on December 9, 2018. At present, 45 percent of the work is complete.
Package III A
Package III A is 14.62 km long from Sitapur Road to Kursi Road. About 67 percent of work is over under this package. This section is expected to get completed by Dec 2022.
Package III B
Ongoing work from Kursi Road to Faizabad Road falls under Package 3B, which is 14.7 km long.
Phase 2
In the second phase, construction is being carried out from Bani on Kanpur Road to BKT via Mohan and Kakori Road.
Lucknow Ring Road Route Map
A total of 65 km of the 104 km project has been completed so far, including the 11 km stretch along the Kisan Path locality. The Outer Ring Road is currently scheduled to be completed by October 2024. However, the Sitapur-Kursi Road section will get completed by Dec 2022. The next Moreover, under the ambit of this project, a Green Corridor is envisioned between IIM Road and Shaheed Path, which will be connected to Kisan Path.
Realty impact of the Lucknow Outer Ring Road
The Outer Ring Road crosses five National and six State Highways entering and exiting Lucknow, indicating the growth potential around it. The project will facilitate the trouble-free movement of vehicles throughout Uttar Pradesh. Besides, heavy vehicles will not be allowed to enter Lucknow, which will curb pollution and improve traffic management.
Since COVID-19 changed homebuyers preferences, the demand for larger spaces in emerging areas has skyrocketed. Residential developments around Outer Ring Road near Shaheed Path, Faizabad Road and Kisan Path, among others, witnessed a nearly 40 percent increase in buy rates in the last 2-3 years.
Several bridges, flyovers, and underpasses will also be built, ensuring uninterrupted access and exit from the area. There will be further improvements in connectivity to Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport. Additionally, an expressway between Lucknow and Kanpur is also on the cards, and in the coming years, new benchmarks will be set in the country's real estate development in Lucknow.
